As part of the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998, there is a provision for the reporting to Family and Community Services for a child being at risk of harm if the welfare and basic needs of the child are not being met. Part of the responsibility of care and parenting is providing adequate food for children in your care. Mount Austin Public School does not have the funding available to provide lunches on an ongoing basis. If there is an emergency situation, the school will assist, but not as a permanent arrangement. Parents and caregivers also have the opportunity to leave money at the Canteen to pay for the children's lunches. However, it is important to remember that the Canteen is not open on Mondays and Tuesdays. Credit is NOT available at the Canteen.
