15 Aug 2012
During Week 6 (20th-24th August) our school will be celebrating BOOK WEEK. The theme for 2012 is CHAMPIONS READ.
All students will be involved in activities related to the theme during the week in class, library and lunch time sessions.
Highlights are as follows:
Monday 20th August- Parents and pre-school children are welcome to visit the new venue for STORY TIME in the library.
Tuesday 21st August- Students and teachers from Year 1-6 are invited to dress up as champions (sport, hero, book character, artist, cook, musician etc). During peer-support groups, students and teachers will come together to share their favourite book in buddy reading time. All students will receive an award from their leaders for being champion readers. As MAPS is proudly supporting the National Year of Reading 2012, this day will reinforce the importance of reading, listening, talking, participation and social skills with peers.
Friday 24th August- All Kindergarten students will receive a book as a gift from the library during K-2 assembly. All classes from year 1-6 will present samples of work that have a focus on reading also during assembly times.
Looking forward to a memorable week.
Remember, the more we read, the more we can succeed.
